Cultural landmarks: the Audley Recreation Centre (ARC), the town’s newest community hub, with a six-lane 25-metre lap pool, a leisure pool, a gym, and an outdoor skate park, splash pad and courts.

Parks & green space: Greenwood Conservation Area, where the Duffins Trail loops about 3 km along Duffins Creek from the Greenwood Discovery Pavilion, with an off-leash dog park at the Church Street entrance north of Taunton, plus the neighbourhood’s own network of parks and playgrounds.

Your Typical Neighbourhood

Northeast Ajax skews young, dual-income and family-heavy, and it’s genuinely diverse… Ajax as a whole is about 26% South Asian and one of the more multicultural towns in the GTA. Median household income across Ajax runs around $119,000, comfortably above the provincial average, and the median age is about 38. People come here for the house and the schools, and they tend to settle in and stay.

What We Love

You get a lot of house for the money compared with anything the same distance from downtown on the west side of the GTA. The ARC is a genuinely strong facility, parks are everywhere, and Greenwood Conservation Area gives you real trails and creek without a long drive. For families who want new construction and won’t compromise on size, this delivers.

What We Don't Love

It’s car-dependent, no way around it. You’ll drive to the GO, drive to the shops, drive the kids to everything. The area is still filling in, so expect construction, and some streets feel a little same-y… that new-subdivision look where every third house is the same elevation. And the commute downtown is a real commitment once you add the drive to Ajax GO on top of the train ride.

Real Estate

Northeast Ajax is mostly newer detached two-storeys, with a decent supply of freehold townhomes and the occasional semi. It’s one of the higher-priced Ajax communities and the housing stock is young, which means fewer surprises than an older home but also less character. New to buying? Transit

Car country. The nearest train is Ajax GO on the Lakeshore East line, a short drive south, running about 50 minutes to Union with service roughly every 20 minutes. Durham Region Transit covers local bus routes, and the 401, 407 and 412 put the rest of the GTA within reach by car.

Schools

Northeast Ajax is served by the Durham District School Board and the Durham Catholic District School Board, with options including Da Vinci Public School and J. Clarke Richardson Collegiate on the public side, and Notre Dame Catholic Secondary School and St. Catherine of Siena Catholic School on the Catholic side.
