Welcome To Lisgar

Lisgar sits in the far northwest corner of Mississauga, a mostly 1990s and 2000s community of detached homes and townhouses built out toward the Halton line. It’s family suburbia done to spec… newer houses, its own GO station, a wetland trail, and quick access to the 401 and 407. It suits families and commuters who want a relatively new home with a yard and a train, and who don’t need a walkable main street or nightlife at the door.

Lisgar’s calling card is Osprey Marsh, a genuine piece of wetland threaded through the subdivisions, and its own stop on the Milton GO line. What you won’t find is a downtown… this is a plan-and-plaza community, and the shopping and dining sit in the surrounding town centres rather than on a strip you can walk to.

Lisgar FAQs

In the extreme northwest of Mississauga, bordering Meadowvale to the east and Churchill Meadows to the south, out toward Winston Churchill Boulevard and the Milton line. Meadowvale is the neighbour to the east and Churchill Meadows sits to the south.

As a rough guide, townhouses and semi-detached homes tend to run from around $800K to $1M, and detached homes, the bulk of the market, generally run from around $1.1M to $1.5M depending on size and lot. Condos are limited here. See the live statistics block below for the current quarter’s exact figures, or browse current Lisgar listings.

Yes, families are the core of it. Newer homes, schools, parks, the marsh and quiet streets are what Lisgar is built for. Anyone after nightlife or a walkable main street will find it sleepy.

The Lisgar GO station on the Milton line runs into Union, with express connections toward the Financial District, and MiWay buses feed the surrounding terminals. Drivers reach the 401 and 407 quickly. The Milton line is the rail option, so check the schedule against your hours.

Within the neighbourhood for the trails, parks and a school run, yes. For shopping and errands it’s a drive or a bus to the nearby plazas and town centres. Lisgar assumes a car.

No. Driveways and garages are standard in this era of build.

Around the Neighbourhood

Cultural landmarks: Lisgar is a residential community without its own major venues… the nearest cultural anchors are in neighbouring Meadowvale and Streetsville, including the Meadowvale Theatre. The marsh and trail system is the local landmark residents point to.

Hot local spots: retail here is plaza rather than main street. Day-to-day shopping sits in the plazas along Derry and Tenth Line, with the bigger scenes at Meadowvale Town Centre, Erin Mills Town Centre and the shops of Streetsville a short drive away.

Parks & green space: Osprey Marsh is the signature, a 20-acre wetland trail known for Great Blue Herons, with neighbourhood parks and the walking paths that connect the subdivisions filling in the rest.

Your Typical Neighbour

Lisgar is newer, family-oriented and very diverse, in line with northwest Mississauga… a high rate of home ownership, larger-than-average households, and a strong newcomer presence, with a large South Asian community among others. Most residents own their detached or town homes, and the neighbourhood skews toward families with children and multi-generational households more than the city average. People buy here to settle.

What We Love

You get a relatively new house with a yard, a GO station in the neighbourhood, and Osprey Marsh for a proper walk in nature, all for less than comparable stock closer to Toronto. The schools are a draw, the streets are quiet, and the highway access makes the region easy to get around. For a family that wants newer and low-maintenance, Lisgar delivers.

What We Don’t Love

It’s quiet to the point of sleepy, with no walkable main street, so you drive for almost everything. It’s on the far edge of the city, which means longer runs to central Mississauga and Toronto. And parts of Lisgar have a real history of flooding… the city has been building pumping stations to manage it, so ask about a specific property’s drainage and any past water issues before you buy. Not a dealbreaker, but do your homework.

Real Estate

Lisgar is mostly detached and semi-detached homes and townhouses from the 1990s and 2000s on suburban lots, newer and more uniform than the older Mississauga communities. Because the stock is relatively young, there’s less renovation needed and more move-in-ready inventory, though the trade-off is the cookie-cutter feel of a planned build. Homes back onto the marsh and trail system in the better pockets. New to the market? Start with our First-Time Buyer guide.

The Lisgar GO station on the Milton line runs into Union Station, MiWay buses feed the surrounding terminals, and the 401 and 407 are close for drivers. Rail here is the Milton line only, so match the schedule to your commute.
