The Richard Bigley Lofts may well be the smallest loft conversion in Toronto. The building, originally built in 1876 and named for its builder, was converted in 1999 into just three hard lofts. Each suite occupies its own floor offering approximately 2040 square feet with elevator access. Hardwood, exposed brick, 10-foot ceilings, and massive windows are the authentic features of this exclusive building.

There is little material to be found on these rarely listed suites. What’s obvious is that the Richard Bigley Lofts are massive by today’s standards, each has elevator access directly to the unit, and there won’t be much competition getting onto the board of directors. That said, a building this small could leave you exposed to potentially high maintenance fees, as well as paying your fair share of anything ‘unexpected’ that may arise. If you can afford the square footage, the amazing geography and exclusivity are a pretty sweet trade-off.

What We : Richard Bigley Lofts is all about style, exclusivity and a neighbourhood that’s going places. The fact that high-end George Restaurant and the  Glasshouse Lofts are both practically across the street is a sign of where the area is going. Plus the original painted sign on the top of the building is pretty cool.

What We Don’t: The Richard Bigley Lofts are so exclusive that they rarely ever are listed for sale. So you could be waiting a long time to get in.
