The Q Lofts continues the trend of midrise buildings invading the West Queen West borders. Technically in Parkdale, this 8-storey, 70-unit boutique building has taken over the Southwest corner of Queen and Dufferin and alongside the residences above is bringing some new retail space to the neighbourhood. The new space can only be outdone by what already exists in this neighbourhood, which is a superbly eclectic mix of cool retail, international cuisine and great night time hotspots. .
The suites at Q Lofts range in size from 436 to 1041 square feet laid out in a mix of single and two level suites. Some of these offer sizeable terraces and balconies, and some even have both, although pictures of the original design differs somewhat from what is actually standing today and we suspect fewer suites ended up with balconies than was originally intended.
Amenities in the building include a fully equipped workout room, and a ‘residents lounge’. What is a ‘residents lounge’ you ask? We suspect it’s a fancy European term for party room or some form of multi-purpose space. Regardless, this ‘light on the frills’ space offers some smart floor plans with cool neighbourhood views that should see moderate increases in fees aided by the relatively short amenity list and contributions from retail spaces on the ground floor.
What We Love: The area is exploding, and what we used to call “the Dark Side of Dufferin” has transformed. It has plenty more to go though, which will be good for your investment value down the road, as well your lifestyle.
What We Don’t: Views from pretty much any direction can be less than scenic, with buildings close by and train tracks or the busy Dufferin and Queen intersection.
