About Imperial Lofts - 90 sherbourne street, toronto, ontario
The Imperial Lofts combines the former Imperial Optical warehouse and office building into a hard loft conversion of 65 suites ranging in size between 780 and 1654 square feet. Occupying two addresses at 80 and 90 Sherbourne, the 3 and 6 storey low/mid-rise lofts feature exposed wood beams, original brick walls, exposed ducts and pipes and in some suites there is concrete ceilings and columns to be found.
The Art-Deco style and the hard loft conversion make this a popular building. Completed in 1997, these suites have had plenty of time for owner input and as such individual units differ greatly in finishes. A spacious rooftop terrace with BBQs for resident use is about the only amenity; fortunately, modest maintenance fees reflect this.
St. James Park and Moss Park are both just a couple of blocks away from the Imperial Lofts, and St. Lawrence Market provides most of what you need 6 days a week if the nearby grocery stores and eateries are not your thing.
What We : Imperial Lofts is a little-known loft in a neighbourhood that is only now starting to hit developers’ radar. Change is coming as space runs out elsewhere close to the core; if you’re looking to buy into a neighbourhood that’s the next big investment, this is a great option.
What We Don’t: The immediate neighbourhood is still more warehouse than residential, so fun options are pretty thin on the ground. Coming home at night may be a tad depressing until you get inside.
