The Chocolate Co Lofts are a popular Queen West conversion. Once home to the Patterson Chocolate Factory, it was repurposed in 2005. The original industrial buildings (the hard lofts) were meshed with a new 6-storey addition (the soft lofts), integrating red and yellow brick with a more modern, glass-filled aesthetic. The hard lofts offer a spectacular mix of original loft architecture and details, with features ranging from sandblasted wood or corrugated steel ceilings, wooden posts, steel beams and exposed brick. With ceiling heights reaching 12 feet in the hard lofts and 10.5 feet in the soft lofts, huge windows and functional layouts, the Chocolate Co Lofts are one of the city’s best examples of combining old and new. What We LOVE: It was once a chocolate factory (YUM!)…it’s an authentic loft conversion…it’s directly across from Trinity Bellwoods Park…what’s not to love? We’re especially fond of the penthouse units that have wicked terraces. Plus the building is well-managed.


What We Don’t: Half the building is new construction added on to the original conversion, and some of the smaller lofts have odd layouts. All the Chocolate Co lofts are priced at a premium because of the premium location, so get your wallets ready.
