The Brewery Lofts building (aka The Lofts at 90 Sumach) was part of a group of buildings dating back to 1878, and in particular, was home to the CBC’s rehearsal and studio spaces as well as their archives. Converted to lofts in the late ’90s, the name is derived from the surrounding Dominion building complex, which was originally part of a brewery in the 1800s. 109 units of sizes ranging from 738 to nearly 3700 square feet impress with 14 feet concrete ceilings, concrete floors, and authentic mushroom columns.

Floor plans at the Brewer Lofts are all single level, and open concept best describes everything about this building. A massive and airy lobby and wide hallways welcome you to your door. Creative owners have manipulated some of these spaces into unique, stylish and functional spaces that don’t disappoint. The single downfall is the layout of deep suites that occasionally leave light entering from just one end. A rooftop deck with some nice neighbourhood views is the lone amenity offered.

The strip of Queen Street East nearby has been much talked about in the last decade, particularly for the sweeping changes happening here and further south and east. What We : Brewery Lofts – both in the common areas and hallways, as well as the units themselves – are BIG, with more space than you’re likely to find in any new condo construction. Big windows, big ceilings, big units, big foyer…This is why people started moving into warehouse spaces in the first place!


What We Don’t: Some units in Brewery Lofts don’t have outdoor space, and the ones that do tend to have thin balconies; although there is a great communal rooftop space, this is more of an indoor-focused building.
