About Argyle Lofts - 183 Dovercourt Road, Toronto, ON

The Argyle Lofts has its roots in the Dempster Bread Company: originally built in 1873, it housed a bakery and grocery store that was eventually sold to the Ideal Bread Company prior to its transformation into the all-brick exterior loft building that it is today. Completed in 2007 after some delay, the building is home to 86 suites ranging in size from about 500 to over 1500 square feet.

Many of the suites at Argyle Lofts have had modifications made from builder standards when it was completed, and this adds to the character of the building. No two units presented for sale in this building (like many of the original hard loft conversions in the city) are quite alike. This is a 6 storey building, with twelve-foot ceiling heights on floors 1, 2 and 5, nine-foot ceilings on the 4th, and sixteen and a half foot ceilings on the 3rd and 6th floors.

Many of these lofts feature the original hardwood beamed ceilings, most have loads of natural light and ground and top floors offer private exterior space, in the form of terraces and rooftop decks respectively. Proximity to both Queen West and Ossington attractions make this Beaconsfield neighbourhood loft an uber desirable spot to call home.


What We Love: This the unicorn of lofts: an awesome conversion loft that oozes character in the middle of a quiet residential neighbourhood, with the restaurants, nightlife, and services of both Queen and Ossington only a few blocks away. The top floor units can be pretty swank, some are huge.


What We Don’t: Most units don’t have outdoor space, and many don’t have parking. Many of the smaller 2-level units have tall ceilings overlooking the living area, but windows are only on one side, so the master suite is open and public and the second bedroom/den can be a bit of a fishbowl beside the kitchen.
