If you follow this blog, you know we love marketing our clients’ homes. We hire only the best photographers, make custom neighbourhood infographics, have real filmmakers make videos of our listings and basically do everything we can to own the web. If you want your home seen by your target market, we’ve got you covered.
But today…we’re excited to introduce a new way the BREL team is marketing homes: Augmented Reality.
It’s a way to make our print marketing – our ‘just listed’ postcards and home feature sheets – come to life with interactive print marketing. We think this is the first time Augmented Reality is being done to sell a house. Yea, we’re trail-blazers like that.
So what is Augmented Reality?
“Augmented Reality is cutting-edge technology that allows for a digitally enhanced view of the real world, connecting you with more meaningful content in your everyday life. With the camera and sensors in a smartphone or tablet, augmented reality adds layers of digital information – videos, photos, sounds – directly on top of items in the world around us.” (Layar)
The leading app for being able to access interactive print content is Layar, a free download on your smartphone or Tablet. Accessing Augmented Reality content is as easy as opening the Layar app, holding it in front of a postcard or feature sheet and being instantly connected to cool content.
Today, thousands of postcards are being delivered in Toronto’s South Annex neighbourhood to help market our latest listing at 296 Borden Street. With two clicks on a smartphone or iPad, potential Buyers will be able to see the postcard come to life – and experience the house like never before, with instant access to photos, our fancy video and neighbourhood information.
If you don’t get one of our postcards today and want to experience Augmented Reality for yourself, download the Layar app, pretend you aren’t at a computer and scan this “postcard”:

Last week, the Toronto Star brought their paper to life with Augmented Reality and Layar. Today, the BREL team and Sage Real Estate bring real estate postcards to life. What do you think?
